Most ACE units had the bedside nurse, the physical therapist, a social worker, a case manager, and then differences in a lot of other people, chaplains, nurse practitioners, the primary teams. I talked about lack of prestige and respect, and I talked about how healthcare system leaders and medical school deans don’t always seem to value the field of geriatrics. But then I realized who I wasn’t hearing from, I did not hear from the CEO of my organization, my healthcare organization. One was very surprising.
