Additionally, 1,071 physicians have been board certified in transplant hepatology since 2006 with 904 maintaining today. DeVault noted that the data in the presentation would be valuable for advising applicants.

On average, physicians who are eligible for an assessment are choosing the LKA at a rate of around 80% across all specialties and multiple years of enrollment. Thousands of subspecialists are also using the LKA to reinstate their lapsed certifications in internal medicine.

Of note, 14,777 physicians have been ABIM Board Certified in Hematology since it was first offered in 1972, with 10,730 currently maintaining valid certification and 7,445 simultaneously maintaining certification in internal medicine. There was agreement on a broad need for safe, structured, team-based care.
