Hospice in Prison Part 1: An interview with Michele DiTomas and Keith Knauf

And then from that, through community activists, ACT UP, legislators who felt that there needed to be something done, doctors within CDCR who cared passionately about the HIV population and others, all came together and we were able to eventually get funding for this 17-bed inpatient hospice. It’s by choice, just like in the community.

Many years ago for the first study; I believe it was in 2009, 2010; I met with Susan Mitchell at the Institute for Aging Research, and told her that I wanted to study the use of feeding tubes for people with advanced dementia. Rehabbed to Death. My question is, why this study, and why now?
