Cash practices are appearing and evolving to meet patients’ needs without the mandates of Medicare and the private insurance industry, but are in essence duplicating cost and effort because of Obamacare’s insurance mandate. The whole notion of Quality is arbitrary and paternalistic.

Population Studied: We started with 29,620 deliveries at IHC between May 1, 2009, and May 31, 2023. Instrument: Data was extracted from a detailed database of deliveries from May 2009 to the present. Race, ethnicity, high BMI, insurance, and primigravidity were not independently associated with sPTB. Setting: IHC, Iowa City, IA.
