Summary Transcript CME Summary Early in my research career, I was fascinated by the (then) frontier area of palliative care in the emergency department. Many years ago for the first study; I believe it was in 2009, 2010; I met with Susan Mitchell at the Institute for Aging Research, and told her that I wanted to study the use of feeding tubes for people with advanced dementia. Because this revolving door in the emergency room was basically assault and battery, if you will.
