I think in the era when I trained in the 2008 timeframe, you know, it was very much just like somebody has pain, they need opioids, they have pain, they have more pain, they need lots more opioids. You can tell, are they showing up to oncology appointments, to palliative appointments, are there urine tests as expected?

And the Ryan Haight Act I think was passed in 2008, which was in response to a young person who died of an opioid overdose. And I think that it was percolating in a lot of the palliative care community. We were the highest utilizers of telemedicine in the whole UCSF health system at that time which we’re very proud of.
